The BullArab was created in the 1970’s by Mr Mike Hodgens in Australia from crosses between the English Bull Terrier, German Short Hair Pointer and the Greyhound. A German Short Hair Pointer cross Greyhound bitch was bred to a pure working English Bull Terrier male to create the foundation dogs of the breed. The breed grew very quickly in numbers as more and more hunters quickly realised its potential as a big game hunter. In the 1980’s, small amounts of Bloodhound and English Pointer blood were added by some hunters to improve their dogs due to the tough terrain they hunted.
