The Boxer was created from crosses between German Bullenbeisser’s and English Bulldogs. The Bullenbeisser had been used in Germany for centuries to hunt big game and work livestock on farms. The Boxer was created by Mr Georg Alt in Munich, Germany. He bred a brindle female Bullenbeisser called ‘Flora’ with a local working dog of unknown breeding. A fawn and white male from this litter called Lechner’s ‘Box’ is considered by many to be the fore father of the breed. Lechner’s Box was bred back to his dam ‘Flora’ and a female from that litter was named Alt’s ‘Schecken’. Schecken was bred to an English Bulldog named ‘Tom’ and they produced a dog called ‘Flocki’, who became the first Boxer to be entered in the German Stud Book after winning at a Munich dog show. – MORE INFO COMING SOON
