The Dogo Guatemalteco was originally known as the Bull Terrier Guatemalteco and was created in the late 1800’s in Guatemala, Central America from crosses between early Bull Terriers, early Boxers and Dalmatians. The breed was created to be a guard dog, however was also used for various other functions including hunting and combat sports. There was number of families that played a huge role in the development of the breed over the years, the two most famous ones were the Gerardi family in the early 1900’s and the Galluser family in the 1930’s who created the famous “Gullu” line. The Kennel Club of Guatemala has officially recognised the breed and the government named it as its national dog breed in 1981 but no international Kennel Clubs have registered the breed yet. – MORE INFO COMING SOON!
