The Dogue Brasileiro was created by Mr Pedro Pessoa Ribeiro Dantas in Caxias do Sul, Brazil in 1978. The breed was created from a cross between an English Bull Terrier male and a Boxer female. Mr Dantas was so impressed with the resulting offspring that he began a breeding program to create his own breed that he would later call the Dogue Brasileiro. The breed was specifically created to be a personal protection dog due to the high crime rate in Brazil. In the 1980’s-1990’s Mr Dantas also added small amounts of American Staffordshire Terrier blood to his dogs. The stud book was closed after that and the breed has grown in popularirty since the late 1990’s and early 2000’s and can now be seen all over its homeland. – MORE INFO COMING SOON
