The Gull Terr and Bull Terr are the local names given to a type of hunting/fighting dog that can be found in Pakistan and India today. Both of these dogs descend from early Bull Terriers taken to the Indian subcontinent by British soldiers during the British Raj, where they were bred with local dogs. These crosses were the foundation for both the Gull Terr and Bull Terr. Over the years, more modern day show Bull Terrier blood has been added to these dogs by fanciers. Despite what some people will have you believe these “breeds” are not pure and are not an ancient strain of the Hink’s Bull Terrier. They are type that has been kept and bred for in the region with some early Bull Terrier blood running through their veins. There is very little difference, if any between the Gull Terr and Bull Terr.
